Be more. Do less.
Yesterday we thought about Doing Less, so we can have space to Be More.
Feeding off an idea is the beginning of transformation.
In addition to changing our thinking, we often need some concrete tips about how to directly change our behaviour.
Today I'm suggesting that changing our language is a key strategy in implementing a change in our approach.
Where possible, with every activity we take part in, I suggest we change our inner talk. Instead of things we "have" to do, I suggest reframing our language so that we always say to ourselves that we "want" to do it.
Not possible, you might say. There just are things I have to do.
Well, I strongly suggest that we can reframe everything. And if we can't genuinely say, "I want to do this", then that is the indication to drop that activity. Or to farm it out to someone else in our family or workplace until our genuine energy for it returns. Or to search more deeply, and realise that it is actually our desire for hygiene that motivates us to do the washing, for example. So, we really do "want" to do the washing.
The impact of changing our language will be that our inner and outer worlds will be brought into agreement. When we are in harmony with our instincts, then our outer world will become authentically ours.
And we will undo the driving energy that pushes us towards Perfectionism.
What are your thought about the power of language change? Feel free to comment.
