Here in NZ it's the first day of the school holidays.
Having our chicks around 24/7 can be a rollercoaster rider through the full spectrum of emotions....for them, and for us! It's a time that can build and strengthen our bonds with our babes, or wear that bond pretty thin.
I'm loving this reminder that, in every interaction, big and small, our children are looking to us for validation, affirmation and confirmation of who they are, and of their bond with us (thank you, Friend, for sharing this with me).
While this is so true of how our children are wired for connecting with us, it's also true of all of us grown-ups. To varying degrees, we are all looking for validation of who we are when we connect with others. All our interactions with others will either build us up, or wear us down.
So, in this holiday time, let's live as wisely as we can
.
It all really does matter. Every loving smile, affirmation or loving boundary builds them.
And it will also build and strengthen us.
